The BEET Podcast gives you a brief education in educational technology. The field of educational technology is a relatively new one to most educators, although it has been around for several decades. In the 1970s and 1980s, some schools used cutting edge broadcast systems to show films in classrooms. University researchers experimented with distance learning by creating recorded lessons that could be sent to remove locations that did not have easy access to a college setting. In the 1990s, and even in the early 2000s, educational technology seemed confined to the ubiquitous computer labs in schools.

Today, educational technology has taken on a different meeting. It no longer refers to just teaching kids to use technology. Rather, educational technology refers to the technological tools with which teachers enhance their instruction. As the name implies, it is the education that is primary - technology is the supportive aspect.

The BEET Podcast gives teachers, administrators, curriculum specialists, and other professionals some ideas on how to easily integrate technology.
